Oil & Gas
Today’s concerns in the Oil & Gas industry are based on the following key performance indicators: safety, time to first oil, return on capital investment, production growth and production cost. Process simulation with HYSYS and Unisim is widely applied in the Oil & Gas industry to improve those KPIs. Inprocess has been supporting its clients by developing model-based applications or executing modelling projects. Examples include the reducing non-expected plant shut downs by advising on the compressor design strategy, or improving start-up sequence of a gas plant.

New Unit Operation Development
2009 Italy Oil & Gas Equipment Manufacturer
Inprocess developed a new dynamic unit operation model for a commercial process simulation software (HYSYS/UNISIM). This model was consecutively connected to a PLC through OPC. The use of the model instead of real equipment resulted in a more efficient control design. Also, some project equipment delivery phases were shortened by applying scenarios to the model that represents extreme unit conditions and abnormal behaviour which could not be tested on real equipment.
Dynamic Compressor Study
2009 UK Oil & Gas Engineering
Dynamic Process Simulation Compressor Study for a new off-shore platform. The study focusses on the operability and controllability issues of the complex four stage compression train as well as on safety issues.
OPC Interface on Simulation tool for model on-line connectivity
2009 Italy Oil & Gas Equipment Manufacturer
In order to gain flexibility during the control design phase for compressors, Inprocess developed a connection between the PLC and the process simulation software (HYSYS/UNISIM). This connection allows exchanging analog and digital signals between the compressor equipment simulation and the PLC control system, thus allowing Inprocess’ customer to setup, modify and improve the logic control before start-up of the plant.
Dynamic Compressor Study & Dynamic HYSYS Extension
2009 Italy Oil & Gas Equipment Manufacturer
Dynamic Process Simulation Compressor Study including the development of a project specific anti-surge controller (implemented as a HYSYS Extension).
Training programme
2010 Spain Oil & Gas Engineering
Training Programme based on a number of training sessions to be executed in parallel to the execution of a dynamic simulation study in order to effectively deliver dynamic simulation know-how: The combination of Training Simulation Services is called Inprocess Knowledge Improvement Programme (KIP).

Dynamic Process Simulation Compressor Study
OPC Interface on Simulation tool for model on-line conectivity
2009 Italy Oil & Gas Equipment Manufacturer
In order to gain flexibility in the control design phase, Inprocess developed a connection between the PLC and the Simulation tool. This connection will allow exchanging analog and digital signals between station simulator and PLC control system allowing customer engineers to setup, modify and improve the logic control that will run at the real plant later.
2008 TRAINING UPDATE
2008 Various Oil & Gas Engineering
Operator
Equipment Manufacturer
In 2008, Inprocess carried out a substantial number of in-house and public training courses, teaching more than 240 engineers at different levels. Inprocess introduced four new training courses, e.g. the new training course that covers the application of process simulation to model LNG processes. In addition to the new training courses, Inprocess also updated all previously developed material to include the feedback that we received from our attendees

Development of client-specific "Best Practice Manual for Dynamic Simulation"
HYSYS Integration with In-house Simulator
2008 Italy Oil & Gas Operator
Development of IT infrastructure to integrate in-house simulator into Standard Process Simulation Software (HYSYS & UNISIM), while keeping the customer's IP isolated from the simulation tool and the users (Black Box approach).
KIP for Dynamic Simulation
2007/2008 Italy Oil & Gas Operator
Inprocess applied its Knowledge Improvement Programme (KIP) approach for dynamic simulation by developing a dynamic model of an LTS gas plant proposed by the customer. Th model allows the users to evaluate current and future performance of the unit. In parallel technology transfer sessions where held based on customized training material developed by Inprocess. This material remains with the customer for future usage.
After completion of the model development and the training sessions, Inprocess provided consultancy to the client's process engineering team from our offices in Barcelona in order to motivate the customer's process engineers to develop their own models.
As a result of this KIP, dynamic process simulation has seen much wider use with this client in the last few years.
Dynamic Compressor Study
2010 Spain Oil & Gas Engineering
Dynamic simulation compressor study for a new centrifugal compressor line integrated into an existing reciprocating compressor train. The study focuses on the design of the new equipment as well as on the operability and controllability of the complete compression system.
